FYZICAL Therapy and Balance Centers is currently seeking a BILLING SPECIALIST to join our team.

The Billing Specialist is responsible for all functions of medical billing and coding, follow-up and collection. A successful candidate in this role must be able to think logically, to troubleshoot and preform work in a continuously changing work environment. Candidates must project a warm, enthusiastic and friendly demeanor with client and team member interactions. Candidates should be comfortable verifying patients’ insurance coverage, answering patients’ billing questions and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and submit clean claims
  • Monitor payments for any lapses and send out patient statements
  • Work denied claims and send appeals when necessary
  • Reconcile appointments with notation and charges
  • Answer billing questions over the telephone and face to face
  • Post payments
  • Request and monitor authorizations
  • Contact client’s insurance company for verification of insurance benefits
  • Understand requirements needed for verification and coverage of physical therapy visits
  • Performs other miscellaneous administrative tasks as directed

Skills & Qualifications

KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience and comfort with utilizing a variety of computer applications including, but not limited to email and Excel
  • Experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Ability to maintain a calm and friendly demeanor with clients, insurance companies and co-workers

Responsibilities

  • Perform new-patient evaluations/exams
  • Diagnose patients; evaluate physical activity limitations
  • Create a plan that sets a goal and completion date
  • Equip patients with PT intervention techniques/exercises; track progress
  • Provide education to patients on techniques for the continuation of care
  • Examine and evaluate new patients
  • Establish a diagnosis of condition or conditions and their impact on activity
  • Establish a plan goal and time frame
  • Prescribe intervention techniques and exercises
  • Measure and track intervention effectiveness
  • Educate the patient on continuing care

Skills & Qualifications

  • Accredited PT program graduate
  • Up-to-date state PT license
  • Able to create and implement outpatient balance and vestibular rehabilitation-setting treatment plans
  • Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment 
  • Must be passionate about helping patients who have vestibular, balance, neurological, and fall risk issues
  • 5+ year(s) of outpatient neuro/ortho center or vestibular rehab experience  
  • Graduation from an accredited PT program and current PT license in
  • Must be able to carry out and progress a skilled treatment plan in outpatient balance and vestibular rehabilitation setting
  • Must be self-motivated with a willingness to learn
  • Passion for working with vestibular, balance, neurological, and fall-risk patient population
  • Prefer at least 5+ years working in outpatient neurological or orthopedic center, or previous vestibular rehab experience
