Responsibilities

• Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures.
• Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities.
• Observes patients during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patient responses to treatments and progress and reports findings to physical therapist.
• Measures patient's range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist to compile data for patient evaluations.
• Gives orientation to new physical therapist assistants and directs and gives instructions to physical therapy techs.
• Monitors treatments administered by physical therapy aides.
• Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.

Skills & Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant program. A minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist assistant is preferred.
 
LICENSURE
Must have and maintain a current license to practice as a physical therapist assistant issued by the Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider card. Apply Now
