JOB OVERVIEW:  As physical therapy aide, responsible to assist physical therapist/s and PT assistant/s with patient services as directed. As fitness training program trainer, responsible for leading 60-minute, small-group, by-appointment, strength training and cardio exercise sessions and related services. Position is 40 hours per week based on clinic hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.    
 
REPORTS TO: Clinic Founder/Owner
CLINIC OVERVIEW:  FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers – San Francisco was born out of West Portal Physical Therapy & Wellness Center (WPPT), which was founded in 1992 with the goal of providing patients with results-oriented physical therapy in a professional and caring environment.
In 2019, as part of a continuous effort to expand services to our patients, WPPT moved under the national umbrella of FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers and relocated to a newly designed clinic at the base of Twin Peaks. Our facility offers four, private treatment rooms and an airy gym with 12-foot ceilings.  
As a team, we are 100% focused on achieving the health and wellness goals of our patients. The clinic provides a full range of orthopedic physical therapy and sports medicine services; however, it focuses on spine care, shoulder and knee rehabilitation, balance, and fall risk screening. We also offer a semi-private, by-appointment Fitness Training Program under the direction of personal trainers.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

PHYSICAL THERAPY AIDE (50%):
Assists in patient treatment under direction of physical therapist/s or PT assistant/s.
Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients during in-clinic exercise sessions under direction of physical therapist. Communicates patients’ response to treatment to physical therapist and/or PT assistant to modify and coordinate treatment as needed.
Generates instructions for patient exercises from database and introduces patients to home exercise programs and assists in monitoring results.
Provides front desk support and maintains work area, treatment rooms, and gym. Replenishes supplies as needed and performs additional tasks as requested.
 
FITNESS TRAINING PROGRAM TRAINER (50%):
Leads small-group fitness classes with varying levels of ability and fitness experience. Instructs, demonstrates, and supervises program participants. Classes consist of 30 minutes of strength training and 30 minutes of cardio. Selected clients are handled one-to-one.
Sets up and assists clients with gym equipment.
Promotes knowledge of proper fitness components (e.g., warm-up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down).
Works closely with clients to insure continuing participation in Fitness Training Program.
Supports clinic staff to recruit existing patients to Fitness Training Program.
Provides a safe, rewarding, and caring environment for participants.

Skills & Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

•B.S. or B.A. degree with major or substantial coursework in kinesiology, human anatomy or related disciplines preferred. Students who have completed two years of college will be considered.  

•Personal training certification or willingness to pursue certification upon hire.

•Adult and pediatric CPR certification or willingness to pursue certification upon hire.

•Knowledgeable in techniques and dynamics of group fitness and ability to work effectively one-to-one.

•Ability to work independently and develop customized exercise routines to keep sessions engaging.

•Ability to motivate and multi-task effectively.

•Customer service orientation and the ability to promote and market Fitness Training Program effectively in person.

•Documentation of full vaccination and booster for Covid-19 and willingness to mask as requested.

COMPENSATION:  $18/hour. After 90 days of successful employment, employee is eligible for sick leave, personal days, vacation, and healthcare benefits.
